My name is Lucas and I, like most humans with a pulse, love music. Unlike most humans with a pulse (and any sense), I have embarked on a career in music. For the past five years, I have been fortunate enough to earn my living through performing, teaching, and composing music. If you are one of my faithful blog readers, you’ve been able to keep track of my musical comings and goings on this website. For those of you who don’t read obscure music blogs, here is a quick recap: I’ve played hundreds of gigs, I’ve been on tour numerous times, I’ve taught dozens of guitar students of all ages, I’ve composed original music for film and dance, and I was once hired by the United States government to go on a hip hop tour in Africa.
In 2016 I moved from my hometown of Little Rock, Arkansas to New York City following my acceptance to New York University’s Steinhardt school. Since then I have been earning a Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies as well as pursuing graduate level Film Scoring training. I have continued to teach and perform, yet my focus and passion has shifted towards composing for film, TV, and multimedia.
Finally, I have an ambitious (read: foolish) goal for 2018. I will write and record a song everyday (‘cepting Sundays). Listen to them below!
March 5 — Selling out
March 6 — Teenage Tears
March 7 — Reception
March 8 — I’m on Fire
March 9 — Determined
March 10 — Languidly Leaving the Library
